Nov 24, · Forum discussion: I stream netflix on my HTPC in the browser. On W-8 there is an option to add the netflix APP. Is there any plus to using the APP VS. Browser. I don't seem to have any issues. i think because the app uses the older edge browser's excellent video engine; zero dropped frames and low resource usage. I use the app because it supports sound and Dolby Atmos. I assume the app will last longer on your battery, as it doesn't have any browser overhead to process, didn't test it though. Only Edge or the Netflix App can go as far as 4K. The reason that all the other browsers can't go above p is screen protection recording aka DRM technology. If you press Shift+ctrl+alt+D on the keyboard when you are streaming a show you will get all the info that you need. Resolution, frames, sound bitrates etc. Zojim • 1 yr. ago.
